U.S. Naval NuclearPower School | An Inside Look - Part IIBroke up recent blog entry (about Navy Nuclear Power school) into two parts.

The original grew too long for a single page. Also added heading titles (not needed with shorter entries).

Part II es aqui » U.S. Naval Nuclear Power School | An Inside Look - Part II

I could write a book on this subject. (Looks like somebody already did.) Hard to turn it off. Hard to forget. So many stories. I still dream about being in. Like a recurring nightmare.

In my dream, I realize I should've been discharged long ago. When I tell the Chief however, he blows me off, saying he's too busy to process my paperwork. "Come back tomorrow," he says. It's like I'm stuck in the Navy, & can't get out.

The only other entry (btw) I did that for (» broke into 2 parts & added headings) was the one » Comparing Joomla vs Drupal Content Management Systems. Another case of more-than-expected.

Still reading Head First XHTML/CSS book. Learning about CSS. Already know most of this, too, but definitely best chapter yet (far as learning useful info). Next chapter covers » fonts + color, both of which interest me. Hopefully I'll learn some new tricks.

Lot of this stuff I've seen in code (while "viewing source" of pages from other sites), but never really understood the details of how it worked, and what the different parts were called (named).

Problem with viewing source of another site (to see how they did something) » easy to pick up bad habits.

Also .. been trying to get off the bean (as you might recall). Not going very well. The mere idea of quitting makes me wanna drink more .. (cuz I can't be sure tomorrow won't be the day I really quit).

Been drinking triple-espressos .. steadily. Had one yesterday that was divine (no exaggeration). I was talking to God.

But today » no bean. Feels like somebody pulled the plug. This is the problem with quitting. Yesterday I felt like a jet-pack was strapped to my back.

Looking forward to seeing the Bourne Ultimatum, being released Friday (the 3rd). Great reviews. Love the whole series. My type of movie. Also like Matt Damon's (understated) style. Haven't seen a flick in a while. Used to go all the time.

Saw Ratatouille with the Bug a week or two ago (after skinny-dipping in the baptistry), but we didn't stay to the end. So that probably doesn't count. (Same story with » Surf's Up.)

This summer is not nearly as hot and oppressive as it was last year. Always seems to be a nice, cool breeze blowing.

The Dog leaves today for Prague .. to get married (for the 1st time). I'm so stoked for him. (She's 20 years younger .. Czech girl.) Everybody I told said the same thing » "Dude, Czech girls are hot."

I may drink some Czech beer to celebrate. Dog says this is where Budweiser came from (patterned after same recipe).

He said it has been real hot there .. (hotter than normal. The Dog likes it hot.) The Dog is one of those people who everybody likes. Nice Irish boy .. from Jersey (most densely populated state in the nation).

Test comment.

Be careful getting off the bean too quickly. You will get severe headaches if the caffeine isn't there to keep the capillaries wide open! Keep it gradual. I drink half as much today as I did in the Navy, still a considerable amount. Good luck.

Mike:

I found your site while looking for some articles on Naval Nuclear Power. I am an ex-nuc, also (class 8701 at Orlando). I got out of the Navy in 1991 and still have dreams that I am standing watch!! When does it end??

I hate to say this, I still think I could bring the plant on line.

I don't think it ever ends.
