Dreaming of the Queen of Hearts

Queen of HeartsWoke from a dream this morning .. where I was enmeshed in a game of high-stakes poker .. (interesting, seeing I haven't played cards in years).

If I lost, that was the end. Adios, me. Everything would be lost. To win the final hand, I needed either a queen, or a heart. Odds were slim, requiring something of a miracle .. and I drew » the queen-of-hearts .. (immediately before waking).

Not sure what (if anything) that might mean. Felt like somebody was trying to tell me something. Interesting how I needed either one or the other (a queen, or a heart), but got both-in-one.

Used to date a girl who had a knack for interpreting dreams. Don't think I have her number any more, tho. Reminds me of that song by the Eagles » Desperado .. where it says:

Don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy.
She'll beat you if she's able.
The queen of hearts is always your best bet.

••• today's entry continues below •••

Could this be a sign I'm about to draw the queen-of-hearts? .. right when it looks like all hope is lost? Nice sentiment (for sure), but I honestly can't see anything on the horizon that would indicate this is more than a dreamy long-shot.

Veteran's day today (observed). I'm a veteran, having served 6 years .. in the » nuclear Navy. [That's where I learned to appreciate (and respect) the power of technology.] I probably should call the Dog and wish him a happy.

Update - called the Dog. (He lives in NYC.) Told him my dream. The Dog has a real-life Queen-of-Hearts .. from the Czech Republic. (You know what they say about Czech girls.) She's 20 years younger.

He said, "Yeah, I was at a party this weekend. People kept coming up and telling me how lucky I was. Unfortunately, she's got herself a joker." =)

The Dog is a big poker player. In Hawaii, he hosted a game every Friday night at our place in Waikiki (on Ala Wai Blvd). They played into the wee morning hours (smoking cigars). When you're 20 years old, you can do that (stay up all night). Now-a-days I need my beauty rest. I been sleeping hard, lately.

Using TrackBack, sites can communicate about related resources. For example, if Weblogger A wishes to notify Weblogger B that he has written something interesting/related/shocking, A sends a TrackBack ping to B. This accomplishes two things.
